1 The Indiana (Gazette REGIONAL Sunday, April 22, 2001 8-3 Obituaries Theodore Shank Theodore L. Shank, 69, of Clymer died Friday, April 20, 2001,: at Indiana Hospital. The son of John R. and Nettie Mason Shank was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Clymer.

Mr. Shank attended the Bible Baptist Church in Clymer. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed with Westinghouse in Blairsville for 35 years as a heat treater. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arvilla Jane Edwards Shank; five sons: Ted of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Terry of Indiana; Ken of Anaheim, Dennis of Creekside; and Kevin of Home; three daughters: Karin Rising of Homer City, Cindy Johns of Indiana and Sally Smith of Indiana; 20 grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Wade Shank of Clymer. Mr.

Shank was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Shank, of Georgia. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James McCaulley officiating.

Interment will follow in East Mahoning Cemetery, Purchase Line. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bible Baptist Building Fund, Bible Baptist Church, Sixth Street, Clymer, PA 15728, in memory of Ted Shank. Michael Balquist Michael Balquist, 100, of Pittsburgh died Thursday, April 19, 2001. He is survived by a daughter, Thelma Goldstrohm of Indiana; a son, Harry Balquist of Penn Hills; four grandchildren: Robin Gionta of Mount Washington; Dr. Gregg Goldstrohm of Greensburg; Karen Balquist of Forest Hills; and Ross Balquist of Zelienople; and a greatgrandson, Christopher Goldstrohmn.

Mr. Balquist was preceded in death by his wife, Adelaide H. Balquist. Friends will be received Tuesday: at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Highland Park, from 11 a.m.

to noon, the time of the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be offered in Mr. Balquist's memory to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 5801 Hampton Pittsburgh, PA 15206- 1615.

Receski, 21, of Indiana died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Indiana Hospital. The son of Vincent H. and Toni Knez Receski of Indiana was born Aug.

5, 1979, in Latrobe. Mr. Receski was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Ernest, where he was an altar server and usher. He was also a member of the St. Vincent College hockey team.

A 1998 graduate of Marion Center High School, he was a member of the football, hockey and track teams there. He began his studies Vincent College and had transferred to Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Surviving are his parents; one brother, Mark C. of Indiana; his maternal grandmother, Antonio Okorn Knez, Bridgeville; his paternal grandmother, Anna Yoschak Receski, Indiana; the following aunts and uncles: Mark Knez, William and Jeannie Receski, Robert and Barbara Receski, C. Edward and Julie Receski, Barbara and Edward Kozar, Janet Receski, Mary and David Black, Stanley and Nancy Receski, Pauline and Joseph Giotto, Nancy and Dennis Smolak, Steve and Jan Receski, and David Receski; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Enoch Knez, and paternal grandfather, Charles Receski. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the BowserMinich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a parish wake will be held Sunday at 7. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection with the Rev.

E. Micah Kozoil as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Center Area School Athletic Fund, Marion Center, PA 15759.

Helen Zagrodnichek Helen Kozub Zagrodnichek, 82, of Clarksburg in Young Township, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at her home. The daughter of the late Michael and Rose Sudick Kozub was born June 5, 1918, in Saltsburg. Mrs. Zagrodnichek was a devoted mother and housewife and a member of Holy Cross Byzantine Church in Coal Run. Surviving are a son, Bill Zagrodnichek and his wife, Lois, Clarksburg; a daughter, Helen Hoover and her husband, Earl, Blairsville; three brothers: Nick Kozub and his wife, Rose, and Michael Kozub and his wife, Theresa, both of Saltsburg, and Daniel Kozub and his wife, Shirley, Elders Ridge; four sisters: Mary Plahs, Portage; Pearl Bankert, Thomasville; and Mildred Wright and Pauline Coleman, both of Saltsburg; four Christopher and Patrick Zagrodnichek and Wesley and Jason Hoover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Zagrodnichek, in 1986; infant twins; and two sisters, Julia Rumbaugh and Ann Mendaloff. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kelly Corridoni Funeral Home, Avonmore, where a Parastas will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Pyo as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg. Marjorie Guile Marjorie Evelyn Thompson Guile, 82, of Indiana died Friday, April 20, 2001, at UPMC Lee Regional, Johnstown. The daughter of Fay and Evelyn Peitzke Thompson was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Lu Verne, Iowa. Her nursing career was spent principally in hospitals in Colorado, California and Arizona.

She was the head nurse in the emergency ward at Denver General Hospital and the head nurse at Stanford Lane Hospital in San Francisco in the early days of penicillin development. At that time, it was the only experimental ward of its kind west of the Mississippi River. Surviving are a son, Wilbur Guile Jr. and his wife, Lucinda, of Indiana; a stepson, Raymond Guile and his wife, Fern, of Forest Hills, a stepdaughter, Gayla Wolf and her husband, Martin, Bishop, four grandchildren: Shari Topeka of Homer City, James Guile of Penn Run, Marcella Guile of Johnstown and Steven Guile of Indiana; and three great great-grandchildren: Michael, Emily and Megan Topeka. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Wilbur Guile; her parents; and a brother, Jack Thompson.

Marjorie donated her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry. She will be inurned beside her husband at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. A memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert W.

Shank, 57, of Indiana died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Indiana 15, 1943, in Pine Flats. Miss Shank lived her entire life in Indiana County, where she worked as a kitchen aide for Indian Haven Nursing Center and Bruno's Restaurant. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Indiana. Surviving are her parents; two brothers, Eugene L. Shank and his wife, Carol, Painesville, Ohio, and Roy H.

Shank and his wife, Carole, Starford; three sisters: Wanda L. Robak and her husband, Richard, Warren, Carol R. Shank, Indiana; and Betty L. Slama and her husband, Russell, Rochester Hills, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Richard M.

Robak. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at RobinsonLytle Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gill Hoffman officiating.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. Verne Bailey Verne Malcolm Bailey, 43, of Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Greene County, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at his home.
