The Membrane Sea Snail, designed by HCCH Studio, is a pavilion covered with a silver fabric membrane with eye-shaped openings. It is located under a large wind turbine on a Shanghai seashore. The main structure consists of eight steel arches gradually forming an inside-out flip structure, and the base naturally forms a semicircular bench. The semi-transparent silver fabric creates a futuristic appearance with the wind turbine above. The eye-shaped openings offer sea views and optimize the membraneโ€˜s coverage.๐Ÿ“ธ Qingyan Zhu#parametricarchitecture #parametricdesign #pavilion #china

How to provide the reliable access to the space and NET carbon dioxide at the same time. There are several ways to reach this. The idea of the space elevator is one of them. It do not need chemical propellant at all. Just usage electric energy, as in skyscrapers, is needed. But in the nearest future it is still futuristic method because the material for the cable is need to be invented. This one of the hundreds projects of the space elevator is described in the BBC article. Very impressive point of view.https://lnkd.in/erEbgDhU #spaceindustry #netcarbonzero

The Tuned Mass Damper 101 (TMD 101) is a device used in tall buildings to prevent excessive swaying caused by wind or earthquakes. It consists of a heavy weight hung inside the building with springs or cables. When the building sways, the TMD 101 moves in the opposite direction to counteract the sway and keep the building stable. This works because the weight of the damper and its movement are tuned to match the building's sway frequency.By moving, the TMD 101 absorbs and reduces the energy from the building's movement, making the building less shaky and safer for people inside. It's like a shock absorber for buildings.

Special construction methods are important, but it's also important not to perform shoddy construction. It seems to be a victory for ethical construction.

Positioned between the 88th and 92nd floors, this gigantic ball is central to the building's dampener system, reducing oscillations during earthquakes and storms by 30-40%.This system operates like a pendulum, counteracting natural forces to maintain the building's stability. The fascinating aspect of Taipei 101's design is its passive dampening mechanism, which effectively uses the building's own movement, requiring no external power, to counteract seismic and wind-induced movements.#engineering #architecture #innovation #technology #naturaldisaster
