My main fuel line showed up today and I am a bit surprised at what I saw when I opened the box. These pics show the ends where in my mind there should just be a small bulge in the line to push the rubber lines over it. Looks rather shoddy at best. The flange they swaged into the lines looks more like a power steering line end that gets an O ring on it to seal. Only these don't even have a good enough tolerance to do that. Yes, I have contacted Fine Lines, and expect they will reply tomorrow. So, what do the masses here think of these ends?? Anyone seen something like this before to receive a rubber line??

It looks wonky but from here it doesn't look like it would break off after you clamp your line to it. Seems sturdy but poorly pressed?

Should work ok, but looks like whoever flared the bubbles either got a little too aggressive or used the wrong tool.

The top picture tube CC offset front to back and the excessive crimping on the tube - garbage.

Be interesting to know the tube wall thickness, as it looks like they are using an old production tool for thicker wall tubing on thinner wall tubing and it deforms the ends.

Poor picture from one of my parts cars, but this is what a Kenosha issued fuel line looks like for comparison.

If you have your old lines as a pattern, I'm more and more finding it easier just to make my own. The problem I have with Fine Lines, is the way they bend them for shipping. One bend is fine, but some transmission cooling lines I just received looked like a pretzel in what should have been a fairly straight section. There's no way I'll be able to unbend them and make them look the way they should without special tools.

Also, what AMC installed doesn't always match the documentation, and if you make your own you can account for that. My '72 998 transmission terminated the return line using a right-angle adapter while my '73 with a 727 was straight with no adapter. The TSM's from 72 and 73 show it should be straight in both cases, but it's not. I can understand why it's hard for Fine Lines to know that, but if you're going to have to redo their work anyway you might as well make the whole thing yourself. If I'm going to pay $50 for a line, I expect it to bolt right up.

I do find the fuel line at the front of the V8 easier to buy though due to its multiple bends.
